Does that mean VELO wasn't in until now?
The first closure of the new VELO during beams was this morning. It reached 4 mm separation, so not completely closed.

After a few rocky attempts, yesterday evening the VELO was fully closed - congratulations LHCb!
Also, finally the 8b4e+BCMS hybrid filling scheme (a mix of 8b4e and "normal" bunch trains) was successfully tested, this could allow pushing the bunch intensity higher.

Well, show's over for this year, as of 6am.

40 /fb delivered to ATLAS and CMS (target was 25 /fb)

Availability was fairly poor following the ion test, although the definite low-light of the year was the 4 weeks lost due to the cooling plant problem at point 4.

I recall the target line was modified a few months back - was that the case?

The actual lumi target (25 fb-1, the dashed orange line) was not modified.
However, with the long downtime in September, the schedule was updated, basically considering the period as a technical stop. Following that, the lumi prediction (green line) was re-generated with the new schedule.

In any case, both the target and the prediction were quite conservative, assuming an availability of 30%. In 2018, and in some weeks towards the end of this year, it was more like 60%.
