Page with daily LHC minutes?
Page with daily LHC minutes?
There used to be a page with the minutes of the daily meetings of everything concerning the operation and problems of the LHC. I can't seem to find the link anymore. Is the link gone, or am I simply overlooking it?

I know the one you mean. I think these meetings are only held while the machine is actually operational which would explain why you can find any recent ones.rudolfst wrote:There used to be a page with the minutes of the daily meetings of everything concerning the operation and problems of the LHC. @drsnooker
Thanks!
Thanks!

Does anybody know why sector 45 is taking so many more quenches to get to 11080A?
They were expecting it would be slow.... (but why)
still cool to see the quenches though

Re: Page with daily LHC minutes?
My guess would be the manufacturer of the magnets. They were produced by three different companies and for reasons that aren't properly understood the three types have slightly different characteristics despite the specification being theoretically identical and tightly controlled.
That is also, I believe, the reason for the machine being limited to 6.5 TeV rather than the design limit of 7 TeV. The magnets from one of the manufacturers have been found to be incapable of making it all the way to 7 despite theoretically being identical to ones that can.
They ought to have got ones that will go up to 11

Re: Page with daily LHC minutes?
Thanks DC. BBC is reporting there is a short circuit in sector 45.
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-32038186
While according to the dashboard, it's just slowly getting to the desired current with each quench gaining an average of 17A. So another dozen quenches to go, with 3 a day, they might be up this weekend!
<edit>
Never mind, BBC just changed their reporting to state that the short circuit is in sector 34.

I think this page is more useful than the HCC powering test meetings
