BIG forum change & Wikipedia - help

I made some big forum changes and added 4 forums.

As we move to the science stage there will undoubtedly be questions and discussions about each experiment. The sub forums are a logical step towards covering the science that will come from each experiment as the public interest shifts from the LHC machine to the experiments. Also of course we can discuss each experiments technical and operations as well.

Does someone know how to do Wikipedia ?

I think we qualify as a external link.

We have a external link here http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider

so we should qualify for one on the US site.

Anyone know how to do this ?

Did you mean start an LHC Portal Wiki or link into wikipedia?

If the former look at this,
http://www.wikihow.com/Start-a-Wiki

And even Wikipedia has some info.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

I kinda think it's duplicating efforts to copy the info here from cern or wherever, maybe just continuing to expand the links?

Well,,

I really would like a external link on the main LHC wiki page. This page is locked and I think would require someone versed on wiki to be able to do this...

I am wiki stupid. Never done a edit. Its kinda complex to learn too..

Well the link was added to the English version a few minutes ago. Added by the same person who put it on the German article.

Cool Ralf!
Also some one added an LHC Portal link on the Commissioning Home page. Very Cool!

How does wikipedia not get flooded indefinitely with spam and random crap? It seems like if chat rooms, craigslist, and basically the entire internet was flooded with spam that wikipedia would be too. They can ban the IP address but isn't it pretty easy to make a new one?

How do I cite a Wikipedia page for a report? I need to cite the "Persistence of Vision" article on Wikipedia for my school report. Everything else I've found on citing websites says you must include the owner of the website and the author of the article. Does anybody know the owner of Wikipedia? And the authors of Wikipedia are anonymous, aren't they?

Why are you asking here instead of right there?
