Why Xe run
Have not been able to find any documentation on why they are doing the Xe run. If someone out there could point me to some documentation or has some info it would be appreciated.
Re: Why Xe run
See SymmetryMagazine.org for the article "Xenon takes a turn in the LHC."
Re: Why Xe run
1. It's available because NA61 is doing a xenon run (they've previously done argon and beryllium)
2. By colliding different types of ion, you can measure the "system-size" dependence of various properties of quark-gluon plasma. See e.g. https://arxiv.org/abs/1301.6633

Thank you Larry s and dukwon. Would of helped if we has access to the morning report. It was great reading and served to build support for the LHC. Having worked on the space program, we learned that the more information you provide the public the more support you get.

You don’t want to inform the public when there is nothing anymore out there to find. The public might want to call it quits.RocketManKSC wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 8:56 pmHaving worked on the space program, we learned that the more information you provide the public the more support you get.
Imagine an empty sky and you already have flown a dozen of rockets into the void, no planets, stars or whatsoever to discover. No return on investment.
