The technical stop ends Thursday morning. They should start the scrubbing runs but a few days ago it was not clear if the injectors were ready. This may have been answered at the LMC meeting this afternoon but these meetings are not public anymore :( Perhaps a kind insider could fill us in.

If they can't do the scrubbing run yet they will go to 296 bunches which will mean a new luminosity record. Perhaps they will do that anyway just to get in a good mood before the scrubbing. They will be going up in 96 bunch steps with 3 fills and 20 hours of stable beams at each step, all the way to 900+ bunches.

Of course that could all be old plans by now. They may even decide to go for 50ns spacing but I think that decision can't be made until after the scrubbing.

If some other announcement is expected I have missed the rumour. Do tell.

Amazing - the longer it runs, the more fuel efficient LHC is :D

Using the converse analysis I am now setting up my car to search for the Higgs. I expect to find it by this afternoon.

My cat found it last night, unfortunately she then lost it under the fridge.

So have they dediced to run the rest of the year at 50ns? Also does any know know how sucsesfull they were at cleaing the beam pipes during the scrubing run?

They did a lot less scrubbing than I expected but now they are doing a physics run with 228 bunches at 50ns. This could be just a test to observe the remaining background before doing more scrubbing or maybe they have already decided to run at 50ns. Hopefully there will be some clarification soon.

I could be wrong but i am pretty sure the LHC just broke the world record in luminosty.

yes! 380/ub/s for ATLAS with 336 bunches and a good long run now in progress
