OLDER 2/15/10 ** current events and discussion **

Post by Xymox » Mon Dec 07, 2009 11:12 pm

I just started a new discussion thread...

The older one on the events of the weekend is at viewtopic.php?f=4&t=129

So the LHC is about to start up again after a minor Cryo delay of some hours lenght...

Im not sure what the plans are to do with it on these runs.

Looks like more of the same is planned overnight, collisons for the experiments.

Tomorrow testing for higher intensities and perhaps some ramping.

Interesting to see the intensity scale has been changed on the graph on the status op page.

Well they were overshooting it rather impressively. I liked reporting "Off the charts !"...

It might just be me, but it looks like they locked down the live webcast from the ATLAS control room. I sort of thought they would, given that it says it's for collaboration members only. Still, anyone else able to get in?

:(

does look that way !

BUT... might not be too.. We shall see. Sometimes the computers get wacky.. Ive seen that before..

I know ATLAS has said they will provide access to the public to the live feed. Patience. Notice from their main site they have a link that does not work yet for this very purpose. It will patience..

I understand they are working right now on other things like a blog to be ready for this weekend. Might be this work knocked offline the system we were using..

Logs say Bucket timing is off by 83 and I see beam 2 intensity falling fairly quick, in fact beam 2 started 30e10 higher then beam 1 now is 30e10 lower. Beam 1 is staying the level. I think a dump will be soon.

THIS weekend according to http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lh ... C-news.htm

Notice the "collisions" without a number... This is them being sneaky I do believe.. The 1.1 studies would lead up to collisions of course :)
