This is exciting. Let's hope there won't be any panic and everything will go well

Actually its kinda more fun where there is drama. Things failing at the last moment, slight delays... Like last saturday... Its more fun ! Its like watching the very end of a good football game and the score is tied..

Not NEARLY as much fun if the score is 20-0.

Maybe, but as a paranoid person I'll feel more relaxed when the collisions will go smoothly.

I also read the progress report as "1.1 TeV collissions Friday night".
The 1.1 is of course no coincidence, as the Tevatron only does 1 TeV.

Stephen i can see where your coming from being one of the most paranoid people i know sometimes everything still gets to me i tend to always think of the worse thing that can happen sleepless nights everything but this place has helped alot with everything hope it is helping you a little but too...... all i can say is try and think positive :D we had fun last weekend i am sure this weekend will be the same :)

It's very hard to find this 0.98 TeV number :). Wikipedia talks about 1 TeV and also a quick reading of the Fermilab pages gives this number..

1092 GEV 1.092 TEV with Both Beams as I write..... Does this mean we may be having those "unintentional" collisions that we had on November 23rd from them in total secrecy? :D
Well.... Merry Christmas! Santa brought the Physics Department at many universities new textbook material and lecture materials!

The Tevatron can accelerate the particles from the Main Injector up to 980 GeV. The protons and antiprotons are accelerated in opposite directions, crossing paths in the CDF and DØ detectors to collide at 1.96 TeV.
this is the bit from wikipedia that shows the energy for collisions at tevatron

worth noting actually that the tevatron is still the worlds most powerful collider...

for anti-protons mwwhwwhhaaa

Stay on topic ! hehehe...

Yes the Energy has been raised to 1.180, see status-op ( lhc-operations )

In retrospect I'm not convinced. Beam 1 was lost pretty soon after they hit 1.18 TeV. I hope I'm wrong though.
