Rubber Duckies

Saturday during all the dramatic events at the LHC I noticed something quite curious in the ATLAS control room via the live streaming video.
Sitting very prominently displayed by the Semiconductor Tracker group is a set of bright yellow rubber ducks.
I had to find out what that was about..
After a few emails...
Mom duck is named DAQ after the Data Acquisition System. The DAQ is a big thing in the SCT. Note similar sounding words DAQ and Duck.
The three little ducks are S C and T for the SCT..
This idea, shirt and mascot was the idea of a post-doc working on the SCT.
The SCT group has a super-duck for a mascot and is apparently making t-shirts with super-duck on it.
TOO much fun... I also love that they put the ducks out so prominently on display.
This brings up a whole thought of other mascots for other experiments.
I sure wish CERN could have a web store and sell stuff. But I understand that its a legal issue of some kind. They would love to have a store and know we would all love to buy stuff, but they cant do it. They have A-LOT of stuff like shirts, cups and all manner of stuff.
