My god, there's a good chance of collecting 1/fb this week which took a month last year, and the plan in 2010 was they would collect this for the whole year in 2011.
Someone call me a doctor, I think I'm going to faint...

Re: 1fb/week?
Actually I think they're going to need to get close to 1/fb week if they are going to hit their target for 2012.jmc2000 wrote:My god, there's a good chance of collecting 1/fb this week which took a month last year, and the plan in 2010 was they would collect this for the whole year in 2011.

Re: 1fb/week?
I think the target is between 13-14/fb to either rule out or discover the Higgs, with an extra two months of running to achieve this if necessary. Running at last years L=3.5/nb/s which gave 500/pb/week, they estimated this would give 10/fb for 2012.DCWhitworth wrote: Actually I think they're going to need to get close to 1/fb week if they are going to hit their target for 2012.
Re: 1fb/week?
Made 980pb-1 last week ... hopefully more this week
Re: 1fb/week?
I can imagine the team are very satisfied to be running at around 6/nb/s with stable beams over 40% of time and pushing 1/fb/week.pcatom wrote:Made 980pb-1 last week ... hopefully more this week
Once they have an idea of average beam time and efficiency over the next few weeks, will they continue to increase the bunch intensity as long as it doesn't affect efficiency too much?
Re: 1fb/week?
Will continue to adiabatically push up the bunch intensity - to around 1.6x10+11 ppb. We know we can do this without increasing the emittance from the injectors too much. but don't expect any jumps ... If 1.6 is reached you can expect 20% more lumi ... say 7x10+33. Unlikely to get much higher than that this year.
