WHOA..... On a widescreen monitor the purple background of that page was causing my eyes to bleed..
It was good. But my god... I must send them a note on that...
Yes that was a good link, but in the interests of our users, I cant steer them there to have their eyes melted.. I will send a email... They have just never looked at it with a 16:9 monitor im sure..
They are usally quick about address things. So we should know soon enough..
I need more links on the portal that are simple.
I actually need a redesign..

Actually that was the wrong link. I meant the http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1165534/fi ... 03-Eng.pdf one at the bottom of that page.
All the pictures are green with white text over the top = low contrast
The default pdf viewer on my Ubuntu 8.04 box was taking about 10 seconds to display a page, I switched to the xpdf viewer and things speeded up.

Re: interesting simple LHC introduction found
I am using FF 3 in Ubuntu 8.04LTS on the Fit PC2, FF 3.5 in XP on my laptop, and IE at work. and the portal works fine on all machines.
Here is my Ubuntu box. My smallest, lowest power consumption machine (<15 watts, including the hub and the DVD drive), with the biggest screen (about 1600x1200)

Cool.... Wow 15 watts is impressive... Yes FF will do just fine.. 1600x1200 will work great with the portal.
