WOW! This site is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm a 60 year-old armchair physics nut, and have been doing handsprings over the LHC since it started up. I browsed around and found the online displays (it was so cool to watch it ramp up this morning (eastern time US) to 3.5 TeV,) and watched those with a second window open to try to find acronym definitions, and what was going on. This site is wonderful and involves a lot of work - thank you! I'll be coming and going frequently, especially as I learn how to use it. It's very satisfying to see so much interest!

Welcome to the Portal
There's some links to definitions and the like posted around the portal and forum, hope you find them (and find them useful!)
