It's hard to tell from the various articles; is this the first time Beauty+ has been experimentally produced, or just the first for the LHC?

Also, the recent LHCb article refers to "known B+ mass of 5.32 GeV," meaning the observed mass from prior experiments.

Still - good job because this is confirmation that the detectors work as intended.

And they want to measure these known particles in all detectors to ensure that the results all compare closely which shows that with different hardware and software and people on each experiment they agree on the findings which means everything is working as planned.

LHCb is not directly searching for new particles. What it wants to do is to measure rare decays of a b meson. How often these decays occur is predicted by the standard model with rather great precission. If a different decay rate is measured, one can calculate, what new particles changed it.
But in order to measure the rare decays, one has to show that you can measure the known decays. These has been measured with great precission by the b factories, Babar and Belle.

That was a good research article on the lifespan of beauty particles. This is the first time I have seen those kind of measurements taken, thank you for sharing this.
