How can i differentiate two ZZ in Higgs decay channel.

H -> ZZ -> 4muons

i am studying this channel at generator level using cmssw. Guide me how can separate them in my program

Hi ommair,

We're an unofficial forum, most of our regular posters are not affiliated with CERN and as such most of us (myself included) will not be familiar with cmssw.

As to your question, I imagine that the total energy of the muons in the case pp->H->ZZ->4*muon would be different to the case pp->ZZ->4*muon

You might find the following links of use:

Part of a theses, describing vector boson decay of the Higgs:
http://www.hep.lu.se/atlas//thesis/eged ... 0000000000

How to identify Z->2*Muon events in the LEP era (should give you a feel for what the decay of Z bosons looks like)
http://pyweb.swan.ac.uk/~pybl/PH312/PAR ... /mumu.html

This page comes from the same tutorial as the link above, and gives details of how to distinguish a lepton-antilepton pair produced from a W+/W- event from a pair produced by Z0 decay.

Hopefully some of those links can lend a hand, but you probably also want to speak to someone working within the CMS collaboration as well :)

Good luck, and I'd be curious to know the answer you come up with.
