As there as SOOOO many threads crossing different area's making it impossible to hold all the info in one area ill post this here as its the thread pretty much everyone dives into.
So here is a nice article regarding that paper from the lawyer dude Dr Eric Johnson.
Enjoy:

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Nice article. Too bad it's too easy to say "okay, but with help of extra dimensions, dark energy, mayan civillisation and aliens we can sure make black holes with much less force".
Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Is the author of the article aware of CERN acknowledging the fact that black holes could indeed be created by the LHC? There are many ways of explaining why the LHC is safe, but it's a little weird basing your entire argument on confinement force when there are easier and more accurate ways of disproving the arguments given by fear mongers.
Both are theories written and supported by a large number of educated physicists. Do you have any way of proving them to be false? Not sure how you can claim that the LHC is safe because educated scientists think so, but then quickly discard other things the same people say.Kasuha wrote:Extra dimensions, dark energy
The Mayans were very intelligent people and had a pretty good understanding of the universe around them (relatively to their time, of course). Unfortunately too many people nowadays know them only because of the 2012 doomsday prophecy. The most absurd thing is that they didn't actually make any prophecy of that sort. Their calender is starting a new cycle, that's all. The 2012 hysteria started because of a guy who writes fiction books about the Sumerians and because of a woman who claims she can talk to aliens. Connecting the Mayans to all of this is an insult to their culture and history.Kasuha wrote:Mayan civilization
Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Author's explanation comes from currently known facts. CERN safety study only acknowledges possible creation of black holes if certain very special extension of standard model is true - but there is no evidence that it is, in fact creation of black holes (and their subsequent evaporation through hawkings radiation) would be the first and only evidence for that hypothesis.Stephen wrote:Is the author of the article aware of CERN acknowledging the fact that black holes could indeed be created by the LHC?
Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
I read the article and find it funny how they always like to compare the energy produced by the lhc with that of a Mosquito (little fly). But if you look at the casualty numbers caused by their even less energetic bites; well mala aria (bad air) is likely to contribute to another 2 million deaths yearly. And if you know the history of the Conquistadors you'll know that a large portion of the population of the New World (85%) were killed by a smallpox epidemic, that includes the wipe-out of our intelligent friends the Mayans.Stephen wrote:The Mayans were very intelligent people and had a pretty good understanding of the universe around them ...Kasuha wrote:Mayan civilization

Hawkings radiation, hihi, have you ever seen this video where he explains how he finally has convinced himself ...Kasuha wrote:... in fact creation of black holes (and their subsequent evaporation through hawkings radiation) would be the first and only evidence for that hypothesis.

Well done, you've proven yet again that you haven't got a clue nor the ability to hold a conversation. Next you'll be called a .gif of a probe intentionally crashing into the moon an unexplained phenomenon... oh, wait...Chelle wrote:But if you look at the casualty numbers caused by their even less energetic bites
Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
My point of conversation is quite clear; you can compare collisions by the lhc with mosquitos and try to create an image that the amount of energy generated by these collisions is harmless. In the same way you can create a different image where even the smallest bite can kill a healthy person (link), and spread diseases (events) in a chain-reactive way, having a global impact. Ultimately it comes down to the shape and form of energy that is applied. And in the same way a mosquito's bite penetrates below the skin (see pic.), the lhc particle collisions are stings within the boundaries of our protective atmosphere.Danny252 wrote:Well done, you've proven yet again that you haven't got a clue nor the ability to hold a conversation.Chelle wrote:But if you look at the casualty numbers caused by their even less energetic bites
lol, I specially added that .jpg, because you seem to like'm, anyway if you want to discuss or ad something to the TLP's, you can do so at the appropriate spot.Danny252 wrote:Next you'll be called a .gif of a probe intentionally crashing into the moon an unexplained phenomenon... oh, wait...
