The topic about the smart meter is actually an interesting case, if you are against ACTA and TTIP than the protest against the smart meter is also your thing, invading your privacy.

Next to that she has a point that science is also a selfish business ... science is simply indifferent and purely driven by curiosity. One field of science often has to clean up what a previous field of science has fucked up. The hole in Ozon Layer, rivers full of dead fish, poison gasses, chopping of the rain forest, radio activity, global warming, oil spills.

And at the end of the day science has generated weapons that kept on getting more brutal onto the Atomic bomb, nuclear research out of which the LHC has evolved. Thinking that we've seen the worst is probably naive.

There is an other side to the medal, something that everyone has to acknowledge.

It's like sugar, smoking and alcohol ... all great fun but it can kill if you don't look out.

If somebody writes:
Genesis 2.0 is true. The rest are whitewash and lies.
Than that is the moment to start doing else. Don't waste your time reading further on.
(Later on I realized I didn't know what I was talking about. Please ignore me  )

Are you serious?

She was quoting from the 'The Genesis 2.0 Project'-article from in Vanity Fair:

http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2010/01/ ... der-201001

"A quarter-century in the making, the L.H.C. is a 21st-century cathedral of science, where thousands of passionately devoted, hardworking physicists—monks by any other name—have gathered to experience epiphany and revelation, and continue writing Genesis 2.0."

Pauli could be fairly arrogant and intimidating, sort of exactly the gorilla behaviour that the lady describes in her article. Remember this regarding Pauli about 'Spin':

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spin_(physics)#History

"The physical interpretation of Pauli's "degree of freedom" was initially unknown. Ralph Kronig, one of Landé's assistants, suggested in early 1925 that it was produced by the self-rotation of the electron. When Pauli heard about the idea, he criticized it severely, noting that the electron's hypothetical surface would have to be moving faster than the speed of light in order for it to rotate quickly enough to produce the necessary angular momentum. This would violate the theory of relativity. Largely due to Pauli's criticism, Kronig decided not to publish his idea."
