At least in 2009 2 Beams at the same time always meant also the chance of collissions even if the beams are not perfectly focused to get the maximum possible collisionrate at first, but some high-energy collissions will occur for sure as soon as there are 2 stable beams in the LHC.

Re: LHC Updates
Sure they will collect enough data to keep everyone bussy. Maybe they cannot even evalute all during the time of shutdown.

Re: LHC Updates
according to the field sector 45 is also already in PO2 today, therby half of the ring is ready for 3.5Tev now.

Re: Creating "Sparks"
so what is the point about the Regolith, you cannot tell me that you belive that a nuclear explosion on top of the Regolith would not have any on earth visable inpact on the moon or do you belive some of the Regolith was produced by ultra high energetic cosmic rays?

Re: Creating "Sparks"
Even if the origin of theese ultra high energy rays is not known there is no evidence at all that theyhave to violate general relativety or the conservation of energy+mass. The limit is not postulated for the creation of such rays but rather for the transport over long distances, even in the wiki-ar...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
also the wiki-page for Ultra-high energy cosmic rays doesn't state any proces which would violate the theory of conservation of mass + energy and the general theory of relativity. Taken both of them a particle cannot contain more energy than implied by its mass (restmas + relativistic-mass) and ther...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
Since nuclear fission is possible, due to an assymetrie between the strong-force and the electro/weak-force (for short distances the strong force is stronger for longer distances electro/weak is stronger and for very large distances gravity even exeeed electro/weak). Fission works in that way that n...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
Iwould suggest 2 things for this thread: 1. leave out the black hole and magnetic hole stuff here, because it is discussed in other therads. 2. dont rule out anything as rediulous and only scaring, when we want to discuss an idea we should take at least the possibility serious and should use only ph...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
All about hte micri black holes or even magnetic holes mentioned in other threads cannot completely ruled out but is dicussed there, Chelle I thougth wanted to make another point here and I try to only explain the very high improbability of such a chainreaction, I am not talking about the holes stuf...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
Number one is no problem at all to me, most of the energy to produce the top quarks was not from the restmass of the proton and the antiproton but from the much higher motion energy of the 2 particles, that is exactly the same for the LHC and exactly what I stated above. Number2 cannot completely ru...

Re: Creating "Sparks"
First of all we cannot be 100% sure of anything what we never tryed before. But Chelle forgets to take in account 2 things: 1. whatever we do to a proton the energy comming out of the proton should not be more than restmass of the proton times c squared plus the energy we put in since tevatron alrea...

No problem
I only commented what you linked not the fact that you linked it and I belive ORION did the same.

Re: Imagining the Ten dimensons
Looks familiar to me, didn't we have this in here before?
Besides that the explanaitons of at least the higher dimensions sound highly questionable to me and sure not mathch the ideas of the small dimensions the LHC is also looking for.
