Re: Mini Black Holes

It is a proper outfit for a 1650 Italian Particle Physicist ... you see DC and I have been about for a long time ... back when accelerators were much smaller and lodestone based.

Tau,

Nice to see that you are back posting; however, I must warn you that Scientific Facts will only confuse "them."

Re: is a sociologist welcome here?

Giuliana, As a sociologist you will be a valuable (and most welcome) addition to the group for you will have some meaningful insights as to why society’s perceptions of CERN and the LHC are so “different” from those of the scientist. As a physicist (retired) I frequently do not understand how societ...

Re: Lead collisions

Beam 1 has buckets 1 and 13371
Beam 2 has buckets 1 and 22281

Beam 1 Bucket 1 will collide with Beam 2 bucket 1 at IP1 ATLAS and IP5 CMS

Beam 1 bucket 13371 will collide with Beam 2 bucket 22281 at IP2 ALICE because:

22281 - 13371 = 8910 the exact difference between two buckets to collide at IP2

Re: What to ask the LHC team about its operations or displays

Based on what I understand, the following describes the collision notation: Sample: 150ns_312b_295_16_295_3x8bpi19inj 150ns - 150 nano seconds bunch separation (bunch is a group of individual buckets) 312b - total number of buckets injected 295 - number of buckets colliding at IP1(Atlas) and IP5(CMS...

Re: The Hump

I believe the only access to the OP LOG (and many additional logs) is through a CERN ID.

If anyone knows of another way, please post that information.

Thanks ...

Re: The Hump

With respect to all grammar majors, please allow me to change the last two words of my previous post from "going on" to "on going" under the rule:

A preposition is a bad word to end a sentence with.

Re: The Hump

Tucked away in the OP Log during the current Technical Stop is the following small comment"

"21-10-10 12:55 end of activity with collimator for the hump hunting"

While it has not been mentioned in quite awhile, "hunting" is still going on.

Perhaps his detector is shaped like a Klein Bottle ... based upon his own image for Ivan is a Human Klein Bottle.

As this is your third attempt at posting, you are creating a very poor “professional” image. You must gain peoples respect before you words will have any creditability...
