I hate to sound mean but.......
Ivan has carefully constructed his own bed, and carefully ignored any advice from others. While I do have sympathy for him, he has determined his own fate, and must take responsibility for it.

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Ivan's theorys have been considered carefully by many many people, on this forum and elsewhere. Are you saying that even though we have already done this, and decided he is a nutter, we should continue to encourage him? To what purpose? So he can scare more people? He needs help...not encouragement.

Re: What Religious belief are you?
"Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, concept or thing" You do not need to believe or trust in science. Science depends on logic and logic alone. A scientific result remains true whether or not people believe in it. Science works by the process of, theo...

Re: what about science and spirituality?
Chriwi: I understand your point. I admire your command of what is not your first language. I only have one language, so I am not criticizing you in any way. I was just saying that: Physics is hard to understand. Philosophy is hard to understand. The philosophy of physics is VERY hard to understand. ...

Re: What Religious belief are you?
But if we may have faith that Science exists You don't need faith to know that science exists. Science is provable. You only need "faith" if there is no objective evidence. Please note that I am not decrying your faith.....it is your right to believe whatever you wish. What I am saying is that ther...

Re: what about science and spirituality?
I think that if you are going to postulate a theory in any field, be it physics, philosophy, economics or...carpet laying, then the responsibility for finding a way to test or prove that theory, rests with the person who postulates it.

Old and corny saying......but still true....
If you think you can....
or
If you think you can't...
you're right.

This is my favourite poem. It does take a few readings to work it out tho... A Little Learning by Alexander Pope A little learning is a dangerous thing ; Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring : There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain, And drinking largely sobers us again. Fired at first si...

Re: Actual progress of the LHC-physics-programm
As I understand it, part of the proving of the LHC is the rediscovery of known particles. This is really exciting coz it proves that the new technology in the LHC is working accurately.
