Re: The CERN safety study

True, but than again the moon is already a burned-up to dust reduced place. Regolith consists of particles of millions and billions of atoms of various chemical elements present in crystalline latices and molecules held together by usual chemical bonds. I somehow don't see how can this become burne...

Re: The CERN safety study

same goes for the moon, aye yeah indeed 4.4 billion years still standing without a thin layer of air molecules to protect it, but all the websites on cosmic ray interactions clearly state that 100% of cosmic rays break down in.. oh wait erm, OH NO the moon OMFG, its sure in big danger isn't it! Tru...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

But if you look at the casualty numbers caused by their even less energetic bites Well done, you've proven yet again that you haven't got a clue nor the ability to hold a conversation. My point of conversation is quite clear; you can compare collisions by the lhc with mosquitos and try to create an...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

... in fact creation of black holes (and their subsequent evaporation through hawkings radiation) would be the first and only evidence for that hypothesis. Hawkings radiation, hihi, have you ever seen this video where he explains how he finally has convinced himself ... http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

Mayan civilization The Mayans were very intelligent people and had a pretty good understanding of the universe around them ... I read the article and find it funny how they always like to compare the energy produced by the lhc with that of a Mosquito (little fly). But if you look at the casualty nu...

Re: The CERN safety study

in its simplest form most astro websites: http://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/documents/PUS/leaflets/leaflet3.htm Note that 99% of sites state that *most* change into secondary but non say all do, because sometimes ofc they can get thro and interact with us on the ground directly. This reference says nothi...

Re: The CERN safety study

No some do mate some are that powerful that they create particle showers below the crust, they do indeed cut thro like a knife thro butter, we only observe the ones from the atmosphere because its a heck of a lot easier to spot and capture the event. oh and that still equates to 1 million such even...

Re: The CERN safety study

... what about the particle showers upto 10^20 ev we look at every single day hmm? These are very, very rare perhaps 1 per year per km^2. They might be a local chain-reaction or some other event, ok this is just some fantasy of mine, but fact is we don't know a lot about this, and there is a signif...

Re: The CERN safety study

If only this were the end of all these stupid discussions... I think dismissing peoples' concerns as stupid is a little arrogant. ... I am not convinced that the report has effectively answered this question. What do others think? Tau says that the discussions are stupid, not that concerns are, bec...

Re: Anti LHC, already proven wrong?

But the question is, would pressing that button be destiny and would the world need to be destroyed in 1000 years ? And then would it be bad karma now ? Hmmmmm....... ( gets really deep ) I say, take the ride... Enjoy it... Just avoid doing things where you get to learn lessons the hard way. What i...

It has some infographics that I am quite proud of, and might make you smile. Bob you are an idiot. If you want to see some intersting graphics from the Moon, look at this Transient lunar phenomenon as discussed in the Creating Sparks topic. http://www.esa.int/images/animdust_small_animation_L,0.gif...

I found something funky, I was looking if there would be some gas produced after "chriwi" suggested the different momentum states of particles. And hey, they are going to look for a gas in the lhc. CERN's Large Hadron Collider, which restarts this week, will eventually produce collisions 3 times mor...
