Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Hi Ivan; I do hope you read the two articles referenced by Orion earlier. I think you then will be able to see a couple of truly well written papers. They have no name calling nor do they jump are around without logic as your ramblings do. They simply quote data from experiments and then once all th...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Hi LarryS; Being a retired systems support analyst with only an amateur's grasp of physics I am very humbled by your agreement with me. I love your analogy of Ivan's "theory". I also agree that using theory without the quotas when talking about Ivan's ranting is actually doing everyone a disservice....

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
First, treating a proton as an elementary particle is a low energy approximation that can't be used for proton decay. The proton is actually three valence quarks with some virtual gluons and quarks sprinkled about. Proton as three point-like particles is an approximation, which is tuned to be treat...

Re: Magnetic monopoles found?
Hi Stephen; I think worrying about monopoles or black holes is worthless in the light of the countries that now have or are developing nuclear weapons. If you really want to lose some sleep think about Iran getting nuclear weapons. That makes all of Ivan's claims about CERN and it's LHC seem like sm...

Re: False Vacuum
I think on a very fast read that this document says that QGPs are the best explanation for the results from some of the most energetic cosmic rays.

Re: False Vacuum
I disagree. I read "fireball is created after the collision" as saying that a QGP is create since that is what the fireball is.

Re: False Vacuum
I don't follow your reasoning. What I read seems to say at least to me that a QGP has been created. I don't understand your suggestion that there are different forms QGP. I seems to see the QGP as the same no matter where it is created.

Looks like beam down for 12 hours.
LHC: Cold compressor off in S12, present estimate: no beam for 12hrs

Re: How much does it cost...
Are you thinking of dollars per pound or francs per kilogram?
I suspect that the largest cost item would be the energy required to get them moving that fast.

LHCb Logfile
Hi everyone; Is anyone able to explain this log entry?http://lhcportal.com/Forum/posting.php?mode=post&f=4# The filling scheme has changed in order to inject a pilot bunch in Bunch ID 1 for both beam. The corrected values for Bunch ID are: Bunch ID 1 : beam 1 pilot (5e^9) - beam gas Bunch ID 101 : b...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.
Hi Xymox; I think that such an explanation would be a good thing for all concerned. I do think he will have to do much better then any of the mumbo-jumbo he has given us thus far. Personally I do not see much chance for him to succeed with his theory, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that o...
