Re: CERN security concerns...
As far as I know, anything accessible via this site has been confirmed as alright for the public to see by CERN by Chris. He has also got a few notes on the site stating that any CERN employee with concerns amount the links/info here can contact him and have it removed - CERN also has the power to r...

Re: Forum question: section/thread for LHC at-the-moment status?
Which forum board and thread is the appropriate place to chat about short-term LNC news -- for example, asking if anybody knows more about the current Sector 4 refrigerator shutdown? Each such event doesn't deserve its own thread, but I haven't spotted one yet with a suitable subject. Thanks much f...

Re: Daily Schedules and Hiccups
Hola wonderful LCH Watchers, apologies for the lack of updates. Monday: -- Comments: Fairly large cryo problem at Point 4/Sector 45 (cryo screen has plenty of red). Page 1 predicts midnight for cryo to be back to normal - so this schedule probably went into the bin a while back. -- - Access till 19:...

100 000 000 TeV is 10e20 eV, so they're just a bit more powerful than the LHC...

Re: Daily Schedules and Hiccups
Saturday/Sunday Schedule -- Comments: Who knows what they'll actually do? ;) -- Evening/night: - RF rearrange from 4 cavities to 6 cavities for B1. - Flip polarity of ALICE solenoid to positive with at least one beam circulating to check effect (and correct if needed). - Finish B1/B2 injection/dump ...

Re: Alice Elog
CERN's internal certificates are known to cause problems. However, it's perfectly safe to tell your browser to ignore these problems - unless you think CERN are trying to take over your computer!
I thought we had a topic giving info on this, but it seems to have gone for a walk...

Re: *** COLLISION ALERT ***
Hmm, I'm doubting any collisions have taken place. The LHC OP eLogBook mentions nothing about collisions - and the timetable for today's collisions has been moved back to 2000 (2 hours time). Edit: Well the pictures on CMS's blog seem to be fairly conclusive in saying they did collide... oh CERN, wh...

Re: Daily Schedules and Hiccups
First 450 GeV collision of the day moved to 20:00 GTM. CERN runs on GMT+1, actually :-) Saturday/Sunday Timetable -- Comments: Multi-bunch beam and collision testing this weekend. Collisions happened 1300-1400, so no idea what's planned this evening. -- Morning: - Finish beta beating and dump tests...

Re: I cant keep up - huge thanks !
An even bigger thanks to you for the site, Chris :) The amount of work you must've put in to find all those pages that were here when I joined is astounding - and I'm glad I've got involved in the whole thing, too! It's been good to meet all the people here and the members from CERN (as well as seei...

Re: About me
Hmmm....... What you want is someplace in the EDMS server... You will need a Cern External Account. See the link for external accounts and then check the EDMS for what you want.. Also if you use site:cern.ch in google and then your search you can find amazing things. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&so...

Re: *** COLLISION ALERT ***
Also, of note is that the collisions this weekend will be the first multi-bunch collisions. The Saturday + Midnight ones are planned to be 4x4 - 4 bunches in each beam. The Sunday one will be 2x2, but at higher intensity. A "bunch" is a group of particles orbiting in the LHC - previously, only one b...

Re: Daily Schedules and Hiccups
Friday Night Schedule: -- Comments: The LHC team have successfully put 2 bunches into one beam for the first time - each bunch is a group of particles orbiting in the LHC. In the end, they intend to use 2800 bunches. Problems with the RF system in the LHC have held up further multi-bunch progress. T...
