2016 operation
Why is it taking so darned long to get to the maximum intensity? With 900 bunches as currently, that's only about 25% of the max possible. Put another way, each physics run could return four times more data at max intensity. So what's the hold up?

Fantastic. A project planner challenge with all those dependencies and repeated jobs

Re: LHC Limericks
They keep getting better!
Another:
A guy on the LHC team
Said "Hey! I was using that beam!"
The Ops had gone home
And left him alone
With no beam, but some peaches and cream

Re: Dark Matter
I think it might have to do with the fact that 100-200 billion suns is a more attractive [sic] target for the stuff than one little sun alone.

"We'll take it straight up to full power!"
The boss shouted down from his tower
So they pulled out the stops
Then heard some loud pops
Splashed Geneva with particle shower

Re: 2014 machine commissioning and 2015 start up
That's very gracious of you, considering how busy you are (and all you guys and gals working on bring-up are heroes by the way!). So here's one: what guarantees that the orbital tune set-up at 0.45 TeV will work at higher energies?

Re: 2014 machine commissioning and 2015 start up
After today's excitement, I'm disappointed that we have to wait 8 weeks more to see collisions at 13 TeV. This conservative schedule seems to be largely about safety concerns. Have you any idea what is involved in re-commissioning the LHC for operation? 8 weeks is optimistic if everything goes to p...

Making 20 Tesla magnets for the 100 TeV FCC is sure going to be a challenge

Re: 2014 machine commissioning and 2015 start up
The design called for 7 TeV (for 14 TeV collisions) so in principle they can be trained up to that.
And that's the limit for these 8 Tesla magnets, based on the LHC's bending radius
