Re: What are the current records for LHC fills?

Quite actual online lumi
https://lpc.web.cern.ch/lumiplots_2016_pp.htm

CMS, also plots with corrected (offline) lumi, but slower update.

BTW: 5030 is going to be a new record fill, past 525/pb for Atlas and almost 500/pb for CMS.

Re: What are the current records for LHC fills?

https://indico.cern.ch/event/442390/contributions/1096117/attachments/1289665/1920065/LHCP16_EM.pdf Mid july was just mentioned this week on the LHCP with a target of >5/fb, mission accomplished today and still 3-4 weeks to go. So I think it is not unrealistic to see recorded 15/fb used (combined wi...

Re: What are the current records for LHC fills?

Reading the article, I just wonder which data will be used for the summer conferences, when will be the deadline? With 3 >400/pb runs in a row, I guess at the end of the week they will far above 5/fb. They will run than 5 other weeks without longer stops. At the actual great pace (I guess some peopl...

Re: How stringent is the ~100fb for 2016-2018?

Thanks for the details, this confirms why no further intensity increase was done.
We have another >300pb run with initial lumi above 8e33, so just 6 runs like this per week for 2fb/week.

Re: What are the current records for LHC fills?

Fresh from the morning meeting:
Longest fill in Stable Beams in the LHC history was Fill 1058 that lasted from 1:13am April 24th 2010 until 7:30am 25th April 2010 for a total of 30h17min

Re: What are the current records for LHC fills?

The longest fill I found was fill 2006, just slightly below 26h. Just passed, so at least we have a new record for longest fill.

Here we go PS is down for 5 days. Lets hope they can hold the beam for some time.

Re: Protons and Special Relativity

According to this site, this effect could even not explained by the standard model, e.g. the QCD.

Re: Protons and Special Relativity

Hi all, I just wondering. An increase of the crossection (also the for elastic scattering) is something absolutely unexpected for me. If I take electrons and increase the energy the cross section gets smaller. Otherwise no one would do transmission elctron microscopy at higher energies like 300kV in...

Seems to work, just in this moment 108 bunches in one injection were done.

Last 2 turnarounds from dump to physics were less than 3 hours. Theoritical limit is around 2 hours. Good Job!!

Re: Dark Matter finally found?

WIMPs are not found, yet! The CDMSII didn't found a WIMP. They found 2 WIMP like signals events at a background of 1. This is not really a significant level. But there are many other experiments and CDMS will upgraded. http://cdms.berkeley.edu/ I think it is not important that one experiment found s...
