Have a question on the "CERN BE - OP" eLog display:
I see: "Preparing IP8 squeeze where I know "IP8" is Injection Point 8
Followed by: "IP8 down to 8 m." OR "Started step to 5 m. in IP8"
Question is: What is "m"?

Re: Current Events Discussion
Not sure if this will fully answer your question but from the "CERN BE - OP eLogbook" Unprogrammed dump. When completing collimator sequence. TCT and TCLs were out of tollerance. I have been (very slowly) putting together a spread-sheet of all the acronyms used on the various screens; I have the fol...

Re: Collisions are occuring now
On the latest slides (Portal, LHC, Progress, CMS, Page 9) it is mentioned that they would like to move to a "3 bunch fill" and keep energy at the 3.5 TeV. This should improve the collision rates.

Re: Collisions are occuring now
But now that I looked closer at your post ... these 2 bunches were injected separately.

Re: Collisions are occuring now
The current run has 2 bunches per beam as did yesterdays run.

Re: Collisions are occuring now
Just when things were looking as if we might see some collisions we get ... Both beams dumped: For some reason the tune feedback system for Beam 1 switched back on after it was turned off. A chromaticity measurement started (presuming the feedback was off) dumped the beam. Thus we are back to square...

Indeed, 3 good hours and when this access is completed we should see several more hours of good physics today.

Log file shows the following:
Beam dumped because of tracking error of Principal circuit of generator MKD K beam 2.
Recorded a positive tracking error of 0.5 %

Beams dumped at 16:31 due to an LBDS interlock; LBDS is LHC Beam Dump System so I suspect that this was not planned. They are investigating

Re: Rock stable beams
Ah, but looks can be deceiving … on “Page 1” the “Stable Beam” flags always remained red and set to “false.” This means that they never met the standard for “LHC Stable Beams.”

As I said in my previous post ... "things still need a bit of fussing."
Currently having beam quality problems on injection (chroma problems).

Re: ** Current Events and discussion **
Todays two ramps to 3.5 TeV did not go perfectly. According to the LHC / OP LOGS magnet RQTF.A81B1 tripped both times. While it never caused a quench, take a good look at the VISTARS / LHC / STATUS OP page; note that the energy plunges from 3.5 TeV to 0 (zero) on the second trip. However, VISTARS / ...
