Re: 666

Тем, кто находиться в непосредственной близости от LHC рекомендую, во время столкновений находиться на открытой местности. Translation: "I recommend those, who are located in immediate proximity from the LHC during the collisions, to be located on the open country." Good advice. Fresh air...

Re: 666

Dissociation is not the same as burning, is just makes a plasma. Has been done already.
Assuming wih "burning" you mean "oxydation with oxygen", there isn't much to burn, except for making peroxyde, which is also not very exciting.
What is it that the experiment has to prove?

Hang on there Chris!
We all think of you.
For the nitpickers among you: Yes that is an implicit assumption. Let's just say it sounds nice, and hope that Chris can't read these tiny letters. :shifty:

Re: Award Winning Crackpotism

This particle has been called by the scientists/free masons (same thing) as the "god particle".
This is so funny, it isn't pathetic anymore. (And not the other way around.)

Yes Xymox, you did the good thing.
Especially, we must make sure noone at CERN gets hindered in any way.

OK, I like to emphasize one thing in the methaphor:
A pond indeed does leak every once in a while. But even if your pond leaks, you worry about the pond, not about the garden.

Re: Randell Mills (hydrino)

Dear PoetLaura, It is a bit hard to give an honest answer to your question. As a scientist (to be honest, I am not a physicist but a mathematician, but I do have a PhD), I must say that scientifically hydrino is, er, rubbish. Not only is it not discovered "yet", it contradicts experiments that are d...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

Worrying about the "dangers" of the LHC is like worrying about a pond leaking.

Re: Randell Mills (hydrino)

Your reaction reminds me of an octopus: when attacked, confuse the enemy with lots of ink. Now put some hydrogen atoms in this cavity and they are accelerated by this concentrated catalytic action. If you select your skeletal catalyst with appropriate small and abruptly changing geometry you can con...

Re: Randell Mills (hydrino)

OK. I'll bite. So I've looked at you animation (nice, but not convincing in any way) and I read the Japanese article where they "verified" the research. In that article, they were playing around with tiny palladium/zirconium powder particles. They do not give sufficient information to see what they ...

My computer translates this as (I have no idea how accurate this is, and I don't get it...) [sic]:

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

I just found a solution for Ivan's worries: cool the LHC with polywater! It has all the properties needed to prevent such a distaster. For a picture of polywater, see http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/nl/images/5/51/Polywater-%28naked-now%29.jpg. For more info, see e.g. http://en.wikiped...

Re: Hi hi hi there

Naka,
The date we are all waiting for is feb 20th.
Then they'll fire up the refurbished and souped up LHC, and the fun starts.
You could start by reading "The LHC enters a new phase" (includes a cool video):

For who can't read russian, this is the translation of Fortov's article in English: http://www.iop.org/EJ/article/1063-7869/52/6/R08/PHU_52_6_R08.pdf?request-id=c943ce88-3e73-4a7c-8374-15966a961552 The article says in the conclusion: "...the constantly broadening and newly emerging opportunities in ...
