Re: LHC Updates
The 10 TeV collisions are likely to happen by June. I think this is highly unlikely. The risk is likely too high for them to do this without a longer shutdown. http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=2&sessionId=0&resId=1&materialId=slides&confId=67839 "The current knowledge of the interc...

However we should fund more research into finding ways to detect and divert asteroids that are a threat to collide.

I believe the term "Dung Occurs" applies here.Curious Dave wrote:Well, I hope this dosen't appear negative, but didn't they have a year to do this while the last repair was being made?
They make a plan. Stuff happens. They make another plan. Rinse and repeat.

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
Are they going to do the high energy collisions in February? That's really soon. The machine commissioning to 3.5TeV/beam starts mid feb. See the LHC-Commissioning page http://lhc-commissioning.web.cern.ch/lhc-commissioning/ for updates. Pilot Physics appears to be expected http://lhc-commissioning...

Re: Temperature readings not updating!
It's ok. They were on Xmas break and just got back to work on Wednesday. They have some work to do on the machine for a few weeks yet and we should see the temps coming back down around the beginning of Feb. for a projected continuation of commissioning in mid Feb. They don't have enough storage for...
