Re: Where's the link to LHC morning meeting documentation?

Did someone write a mail to one of the two responsible persons?

Re: Where's the link to LHC morning meeting documentation?

The LHC morning meetings category page still shows it is owned by lhc-engineers, lhc-mc and two named people. I think the person who responded to your ticket mistook your question to be about the LHCb Commissioning and Operations category (https://indico.cern.ch/category/669/). Or some other LHCb c...

Re: Where's the link to LHC morning meeting documentation?

Well, that doesn't say much. We knew that someone set it to restricted already. The parent category is not restricted, so it is not an unexpected effect of a change elsewhere.

Re: 2017 Operation

Ramp to 6.5 TeV last evening. Squeeze to 1 meter went smoothly.

The ULO (unidentified lying object) has moved a bit to the side, which means more space for the beam.

Next: squeeze to 40 cm.

Re: Where's the link to LHC morning meeting documentation?

No reason given?

I looked through the morning meeting slides, and the changed access rights were not mentioned there.

If you hear little voices in your head, you should seek professional help.

If you don't see the purpose of the LHC, just go to other forums?

Re: New LHC Results Hint At New Physics, But Are We Crying W

Ethan Siegel completely misses the point. No one would care about the most recent measurement if it would be on its own. But we have something like 10 measurements of b->s mu mu coupling, and they all show a deviation in the same direction. A lower number of muons than expected in the low q range, a...

Re: LHC seminar: Search for new physics with b→sℓ+ℓ− decays

B0 -> K* mu mu to B0 -> K* e e branching fraction ratio.

Muons are too rare by 2.2-2.4 sigma in the lowest q-bin and too rare by 2.4-2.5 sigma in the intermediate bin. Not very significant, but going in the same direction as all other results.

Run 2 data should lead to clarity.

Re: LHC seminar: Search for new physics with b→sℓ+ℓ− decays

I'll take your post as confirmation that there are updates with respect to Moriond (not necessarily in the seminar, but soon).

LHC seminar: Search for new physics with b→sℓ+ℓ− decays at L

Tuesday next week: Indico link

Based on what was shown in Moriond, I expect it to be an interesting seminar.

LHCb discovers 5 new baryons

Excited states of the Omega_c baryon. The ground state and one excited state were known already, now 5 additional were discovered with amazingly clear peaks. The significances are 20 sigma for the first 4 peaks and 10 sigma for the 5th peak. A wide 6th state might hide at 3200 MeV. http://lhcb-publi...

Re: The Large Hadron Collider Just Got a Crucial Upgrade

If New York gets a new major, do you write "the US got a new president"? That's a bad example, because a mayor and a president are different words, an upgrade can happen for both the accelerator and the detector. See it like this, if NY get's at new skyscraper, you could write "the US gets a new sk...
