Re: I absolutely hate this experiment

If humans were thinking like that from the beginning one they would never tried to utilize fire (there was the possibility that the whole village would be burned or even worse, because from nature only huge forrestfires where known by them and it was not sure if fire could be contained in a rather ...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

"3x10^22 cosmic rays with energies of 10^17 eV or more, equal to or greater than the LHC energy, have struck the Earth’s surface since its formation". This is not correct it refers to the image, and the text below it says: Every cosmic ray with an energy shown in this plot, namely above 1017 eV, li...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Plubp, a side of a frog jumping into the pool, still no answers. btw, I had some numbers not properly explained on my previous post. The table is related to the energy needed to measure the energy of: 1 eV = 1 electron volt -> Atom: 10^-9 m 1 GeV = 10^9 (giga) -> Proton: 10^-16 m 10 TeV = 10x10^12 (...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

He is really cool. He is a dad... Imagine his kids must be pretty proud of their dad.. I can imagine the whole family sitting at the table with their hair standing straight up because of all the electricity in the air. Im sorry I have not had time to focus on your questions. I have a pressing proje...

Off topic a bit... Well maybe not... Well kinda a side note.. This guy knows sparks.. WARNING.. This site will eat up hours of browsing.. http://tesladownunder.com/ That's a great link, I always thought that Nobody was wilder than the Wildboyz, boy was I wrong, that's shocking  thx! btw your...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Only reason I split that up is because energy is a horrible concept, and it's horrible to define, and it confuses everyone I know - everyone in my physics class would agree! (or more likely, disagree - we've argued about it. A lot.) Einstein proved with E=mc^2 that mass is energy, so everything is ...

btw check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Po35g23fYI and http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1417302205?bctid=1419758473 Thes guys use a 5 million electron volt (MeV) particle accelerator to inject huge numbers of electrons deep inside charged blocks of acryl and decharge them ...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Theoretically, I think, anything has a chance of getting through without interacting - remember most of the world is empty space between nuclei, electrons and whatnot! The whatnot would be space full of Higgs bosons, interacting at different levels with different particles. check this clip: http://...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Hi Danny, thx for you reply. Gamma rays are just (high energy) p h otons. To the best of my knowledge, you're not going to affect a photon with a magnetic field - magnetic fields only affect charged particles and other magnets. Primary Cosmic Rays are p r otons, with a +1 electric charge. http://en....

Re: Creating "Sparks"

No worries Xymox, lookin' forward for any reply, it's great to get some response to the questions I got ... btw I couldn't find a pdf of the article in the book but I guess it's in line with this one: Source (see "Full Text"): http://www.iop.org/EJ/abstract/0004-637X/472/1/245 the accumulated radiat...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Why ? I would think once you get anything going at 99.99999999999~~~~ of the speed of light it really just becomes energy ? No ? Im making this up as I go so no fact checking hehe... But I think it really does ? For this 0.000000000000000000~1 percent the LHC is made because there is a difference o...

Re: I absolutely hate this experiment

Hi Stephen, What I read is that it will take two years before they are running full charge, so still enough time until then to post your concerns and find out what it's about, so relax. I guess they 're just taking it one step at a time, ... Perhaps over-time politics might become more involved and ...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Ok, we can agree upon the fact that a particle-subdividing-atmosphere is irrelevant cause otherwise as you suggest something like the moon would be flickering all of the time. But these cosmic-ray particles could be "Soot" created after the explosion of a Supernova, not necessarily a super-duper bla...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

But yea... sleep on the thoughts and post your thoughts. Lemons, sparks and Higgs bosons. Cool. Thx for your expertise ... and after some sleep ... some more thoughts :) I guess the melon/lead comparison isn't a good one, so to sample it down, a grain of sand would be better, it wouldn't decay over...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

I guess this it what it comes down to for me lemon vs. lead, if I wake up tomorrow and find nothing to contest it I'll agree with the whole deal Hey, I found one; they use gold to cover Satellites and anything that goes into space because of corrosion, so ... does this argument makes sense? Edit: O...
