Re: Award Winning Crackpotism

One of his videos got shown at a physics careers conference I went to in November.
It was very swiftly ripped apart by just about everybody present while we were at lunch :)

This link might be helpful: Group Velocity (Wiki)

I can give a more mathematical explanation if you want, but I'll have to dig my notes out :)

You're probably right. I had managed not to reply to the thread for quite a while. I think I will take your advice and leave it alone again :)

Re: Creating "Sparks"

1. Why is it that at these heavy atomic blasts neutrons only decay into protons, or vice versa, and not any further? Is it because they limit the amount of material or just the fact that any fusion-fission reaction hasn't got the force? There isn't enough energy to create any of the more exotic par...

Re: Several biggest errors of particle physicists.

PS: To “errors” of Euler and Loschidt/Tsiolkovsky I came myself, somewhere about 2000, and I knew about the same results of Euler and Loschidt/Tsiolkovsky several years later. And until such a time as you publish and defend these theories in an honest fashion in a public venue, these "errors" are l...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Fission reactions can be slowed/stopped by reducing the number of free neutrons. (I'm assuming you're aware of the basic model for fission, if not I can explain) On the point about stopping a reaction: In a fission reactor, the control rods are designed to moderate neutrons and slow them down, lower...

Re: What Religious belief are you?

I am a dedicated agnostic :)

I won't go out of my way to cause offense, but by the same token I won't go excessively out of my way to avoid causing offense.

I'm very much of the let and let live philosophy :)

Re: Creating "Sparks"

According to general relativity, mass "warps" space-time to create gravitational fields and therefore bend light as a result. (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_lens ) Yep, true enough Particles forming cosmic rays have very small rest mass, so are virtually unaffected by gravity. ...

Re: Creating "Sparks"

Now some other questions; which role does gravity and the rotation of the earth, play on the attraction of these cosmic rays. Do they just come flying in, do they increase in speed and / or energy when nearing earth's atmosphere? I realise this is an old thread, but I think I can answer this one. G...

Re: Post shutdown things to do

Some sectors have been cooled to let the rest of the Quench Protection System to be commissioned. (Installed, Tested, Safety checked and all that Jazz) I think they're also re-commissioning some of the power converters for higher currents to allow them to collide up to 3.5TeV They'll take a while to...
