Re: Daily Schedules and Hiccups

There's a cryogenics red alert for S56 (CS ITR5). :(

Re: Daily Schedules and Hiccups

According to the e-logbook a glitch in the electrical network was at the origin of all this problems in the cryo systems.

Hope they learn how to avoid it in the future.

Re: *** COLLISION ALERT ***

"Stable beams declared"
"Call CCC if not happy"

YES!

Let's do some collisions now.

Re: *** COLLISION ALERT ***

After missing yesterday 4 bunches beams and collisions due to exhaustion I'm now back to business, only to find out the hiccups seem to be getting worse today!

"all sectors tripped"
"investigating..."

Grrr, I'm tired of witnessing live hiccups.

Re: *** COLLISION ALERT ***

So, were there any collisions?

It seems only the CMS page reports collisions, I've been following the LHC1 page the whole day without even noticing stable beams.

After the circuits tripping in S12 they are now forecasting the next beams not before 22:30.

First 450 GeV collision of the day moved to 20:00 GTM.

Re: Hi, I am a gluon!

Thanks!

Well, I always try to get the "gluon" username in other bulletin boards but it's almost always taken. Thankfully I managed to grab it here.

Keep up the good work!

Re: What does ... mean?

I believe "BRAN Count Rate" is related to intensity/luminosity but what does it really mean?

Re: Hi, I am a gluon!

Thanks!

This forum is also great to find people sharing this common interest in the LHC and particle physics. There's already a nice community. Where were you all before? :)

Re: Quench 1pm 4 Dec 2009

Seems like they're ready to resume now:

"Access finished - thanks all"
"Precycle in various sectors"

Waiting to see the LHC opening its TED "gates" again moving the status from "dump" to "beam".

Hi, I am a gluon!

Hi! I work on the IT field but keep a deep parallel interest in physics, namely particle physics based on Quantum Mechanics theories such as the Standard Model. Thus, I obviously follow with great passion everything revolving about the biggest particle accelerator in the world. I also love technolog...
