Re: 2018 Operation

Hi

How long do they plan to keep doing 90m?
And does anyone have any insights as to why 90m good is? Will this help some specific decay channel?
Thanks

Re: 2018 Operation

Hi
Can anyone explain why Atlas isn’t getting the same lumi as CMS and shed some light into what happened with the magnet?
Thanks

Re: 2017 Operation

Seems like the backup plan of using 8b4e schemes is working nicely and the 40 might just be reacheable. Does anyome know the max number of bunches with this filling scheme. Google doesn’t help much ;)

Thanks

Re: 2017 Operation

Agreed, 0.4fb/d is a relief after all of those small dumped fills. They’re roughly 10fb behind 2016 - by looking at the lumiplots, no science here - so as you said unless they unlock some luminosity somewhere, the 40fb are probably out of reach. Maybe beta 30cm would give a boost (assumimg they can ...

Re: 2017 Operation

Thanks for the update mfb! I assume getting rid of the gas would need more than just getting those ion pumps running. From the look of it they switched to "make the most of now" mode and are back to producing luminosity even if at a relatively low number of bunches. Maybe we will some more experimen...

Re: 2017 Operation

Hi
Can anyone post a summary of the problems the lhc team is currently facing?
My understanding is 16L2 is giving them a headache (conditioning problem? Is this the ‘replaced’ magnet over eyets?) Thanks a lot (yeah, I really miss those daily meeting minutes)

Re: 2017 Operation

Thanks JMc ... keep my fingers crossed so that they reach the 40 ;)
More difficult to understand what’s going on without access to the daily meetings

Re: 2017 Operation

Hi
Can anyone share information about why they’re back to scrubbing (without getting in trouble)?
I haven’t seen any UFO reports.
Thanks

Re: Where's the link to LHC morning meeting documentation?

Hi
I've also tried my luck and got no answer back. I really miss knowing what is going on.
If it helps, assuming we have some valid credentials and cern agrees, I could write some code to fetch the information and host it elsewhere automatically.

Best

Luminosity targets for 2015

Hi Guys

Sorry, can't seem to find it anywhere. Can anybody tell me what the integrated lumi targets for 2015 are?

Thanks

Newbie: Lumi difference between Atlas and CMS

Hi I was wondering why we have such a "big" difference in instantaneous luminosity between Atlas and CMS. I thought the experiments were supposed to get the same lumi. On the Chat, I was told the reason was the beam separation of 0.5H in CMS. But why are they doing that? Should they not be aiming to...
