Check the very next thread! Sadly there hasn't been an update on the morning meetings...

Re: Page with daily LHC minutes?
Thanks DC. BBC is reporting there is a short circuit in sector 45. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-32038186 While according to the dashboard, it's just slowly getting to the desired current with each quench gaining an average of 17A. So another dozen quenches to go, with 3 a day, they mi...

Re: Page with daily LHC minutes?
Does anybody know why sector 45 is taking so many more quenches to get to 11080A?
They were expecting it would be slow.... (but why)
still cool to see the quenches though

Re: Higgs aether
Thanks Chriwi. Do you know if they could even see the difference or is the data binned in such away that removes all time stamps?

Re: Higgs aether
I thought they (Michelson and Morley) disproved the luminiferous aether because they couldn't find a difference in the speed of light based on the location of the earth in its orbit.
If the Higgs field is similar to the original "aether" would you expect it to change during the year?

Higgs aether
This is probably is pretty dumb question, but do physicists expect the formation of the higgs boson to depend on the location of the earth in its orbit around the sun?

Re: it's not what gives YOU the mass
Isn't the mass of the proton, the mass of the quarks (via higgs) plus the binding energy of the quarks. I do remember reading that the binding energy as very large, and contributes to the majority of the mass of the proton and neutrons.

Recovering from B2 injection kicker flashover which happened during 72 bunch injection. Vacuum OK.
