Re: Tine and Losses Panel in vistars

The following is just my understanding of what you ask, someone please correct me if I am totally off-track. You can find excellent description of the tune here among other beam parameters. Vertical position of the tune dot represents measured vertical tune and horizontal position of the dot the ho...

Tine and Losses Panel in vistars

Hello, looking at the vistars (meltronx.com) in one of the LHC dashboard panels you can see Tune and Losses. I tried but could not understood some of the panels, if someone is so kind to explain It will be very welcomed. http://lhclite.meltronx.com/dash.html How Tune is read? Why are there multiple ...

Re: Have two consecutive programmed fills ever been achieved

Crossing fingers seems that fill #1900 and #1901 will do that. Fill #1900 ended up with Programmed Dump, and #1901 is on its way.

Luminosity vs. number of collisions

Hi, I was wondering if there is any way of calculate number of collision per second for example based on luminosity. Is this possible?
I read somewhere that there are about 13 collisions per bunch, is this correct? Are there any LHC Vistar with this information?
Thanks very much.

Re: Proton mass increase

Thanks very much for the detailed answer. Really appreciate it, it is a very interesting (and sometimes confusing) topic for me (no physics beyond high school). It is much clear now.

Re: Proton mass increase

Thanks very much Zaim. But regarding the last questions, do the size (diameter) increase with the relativistic mass increase?
Thanks!

Proton mass increase

AFAIK when particles accelerate, their mass increase. Do you know how many times proton mass is increased at the LHC at 3.5 TeV? Do only the mass increase or also the size of the proton increase as well? If yes, does it means that at higher energies (7 TeV) collision ratio should increase by the siz...

Re: Current Events Discussion

Hi, why is Atlas BGND2 so big (it reads 1454 now) compared to CMS (1.710)? In wich unit is it meassured? And the difference between BGND #1, 2 and 3?
Thanks very much!

What does UFO #xx means? Seems it is causing beam dumps.

Re: Current Events Discussion

Hi, I see that about 20% of the beam is lost (It started at 2.5E12 and now it is ~2.0E12). Is this caused by collisions? Is it safe to loss this amount of particles?
Thanks
Fernando.

Re: Current Events Discussion

Hi, where can you see the collision's rate and the number of collisions?
Thanks very much.
