Re: Why is one Beam Falling?
It seems to have been explained in the last status report.
Apparently the tune of beam 2 is near a high order resonance (7th order if I was listening correctly).

Re: Magnetic monopoles found?
At my understanding it can be compared to the difference between the dipolar magnetic momentum of a particle (proton, neutron...) acting as a dipole and a dipolar magnet (the dipolar magnet is a structure build to produce a dipolar field). Dirac magnetic monopoles are "particles" with monopolar mome...

Re: Magnetic monopoles found?
These observed magnetic monopoles are more a property of magnetic materials (as, for example, iron is ferromagnetic) than a "fundamental particle" such as in Dirac view.

Dimuon events seen at LHCb and CMS
Hi,
I am new on this forum.
Watching the second "LHC status report" video (http://cdsweb.cern.ch/search?f=490__a&p=LHC%20reports) I noticed that the spokesperson of CMS and LHCb mentioned dimuon events at 3030 MeV and all the assembly was laughing.
Do you know what these events are ?
Thanks
