Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
This is just a general observation concerning BOINC and site(s) that download data/work packages to your PC. They are great for checking your robustness of your system, heat, etc... If it weren't for running Einstein@home work packages on my two AMD CPU cores the other evening for 30 minutes or so, ...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
I prefer having them switched off while I'm not at them. I have to half-heartedly agree, I could tune the settings in the preferences, and if and when I get my heat problem fixed I would consider using BOINC clients again. For those who have used it for a long time in your opinions what are the mos...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
Well I attached to Einstein@home and was running workpackage's on both CPU's watching the utilization, quite clever actually they use 100% and then cycle every few seconds to around 10% so I know the Boinc client runs correctly, however I have been having a heat problem and after 30 minutes my power...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
I upped most of my preferences and as of right now not getting any tasks to work on. What is the standard operating procedure(s) for distro of these tasks to the BOINC Network ? BTW I joined this forum for AMD users, is it a good one ? http://amdusers.com/forum/forum.php The BOINC client is requesti...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
To all who have assisted so far with this thread thanks. I remembered that installing BOINC the first time I got a weird error that may have been the cause of the problem in the first place, I downloaded and installed it again, this time without a hitch, that was a relief, and ran overnight. This ti...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
tswsl1989, Yeah power options are not the issue, I have left it on overnight many times before installing BOINC, and once I uninstalled BOINC the PC stayed up just fine, only with BOINC installed at configured for LHCHome did I run into this issue of it shutting down (abnormally I might add). Rhody...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
Well I after leaving BOINC on my computer for a couple of days running under Windows 7 Home, and after registering with LHC@Home I can say one thing for sure, it shuts my computer down after about 30 minutes of being idle with 100% certainty. Can anyone direct me to a reliable source and not a FAQ p...

Re: Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
Ok, downloaded installed Boinc, joined LHC Home created user profile and set preferences to run late evening to early morning. Is this all is necessary to have my PC used for Sixtrack, and Garfield simulations ? From the History of LHC Home page: Alex Owen and Neasan O'Neill at Queen Mary were the n...

Question about LHC Home site, BOINC download link broken
This should be directed to an Admin who is affiliated with Sixtrack and Garfield projects. I am attempting to download the BOINC client here: http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/join.php and the link doesn't work. I am using Windows 7 professional edition. I googled for BOINC, and got many hits, but ...

Re: A few Grid links
So what happens to the data generated at the LHC? It get sent to other centers for processing. First it starts at CERN tier zero https://cmsweb.cern.ch/T0Mon/ Then to regional Centres like this one in Germany http://www.gridka.de/monitoring/main.html Or Spain http://www.hep.uniovi.es/ganglia/ who p...

Harbles,
Could you post a .pdf that does not require a CERN ID and password similar to what was done for the ALICE and CMS experiments ?
Thanks...

I am new here, but not to physic's... Just curious, to any physicist(s) participating in experiments that involve quark-gluon plasma, are you familiar with the work of Dr Glendenning ? If so, what are your opinions of the following ? Thanks in advance... Rhody... Sometimes a picture is priceless, fr...

Re: Real time displays as experiments run and beams are active
are you looking for life info only about the beams or rather about the colissions? The life infos about the beams are in the liks "page1" and "status op". The only live info about collisins so far was the "event display" of the LHCb-detector, but this is not active anymore since they started this y...
